SU-85 or what you can do with a 3D printer

Here you can see my latest complete project, 5 SU-85. These look like Battlefront at first glance, but where actually made from spare bits from the Battlefront SU kit after I made SU-100s, plus some PSC tracks, and also a 3D printed base and exhausts.

I've shied off 3D printing until now as I don't like the layed effect, however as a tool to replicate some less visible parts and a significant amount of filing, the end result has come out really well. It's also used some spare bits, so less useless stuff lying around!

"We promised the Europeans freedom. It would be worse than dishonorable not to see that they have it."

Yep, I'm starting this one with a Patton quote. I've finished painting some Americans and some Soviets, and it reminded me about how Patton wanted to carry on fighting against the Russians , when German surrendered.

As such I've set up the following scene below, where the scouting elements of a US Armoured division in M5 Stuarts, have encountered a blocking formation of 45mm anti-tank guns and 37mm AA guns of a Soviet infantry division. One can only hope it ends peacefully.

Getting back into the swing

Well that was a busy few months! I've got a few hobby bits done, I played in Corrivalry, which I enjoyed. I've also got a lot of stuff built, but the motivation to paint has gone. Thankfully it has come back a bit.

As such I've finished off my Battle of Britain Luftwaffe fighters. You can see them below together with the British fighters I did last year.

Bringing out the detail

So in preparation for painting some Honey tanks for the desert, I was digging out a painted Grant from the British desert box for reference.

While I was in there I spotted my Humber armoured cars, which were painted before I started to pinwash things.

So they blend in the my newer painting style, I pulled them out and gave them a pin wash, and touched up some rough areas. I think it has really helped the models pop!

Little Katie

So I have finished 8 Katushka "little Katie" rocket launchers for my Soviet forces. These are Zvezda models which I have sprues up with some pipe cleaners to explain why the models bottom rack is empty.

Again apologies for the phone pictures.

More Necromunda Escher

I've finished 6 Necromunda Escher gang members over this period.

Firstly are these three gangers.

Then there is the Heavy with a Heavy Stubber and a Juve (who is probably my favourite pose of the Escher range)

Finally we have the Leader.

Apologies for the quality of these pictures, I will try and take some more at a later date.

King Killer

We actually have another update! Hopefully there will be a couple more over the Christmas break.

Today's update is a 1:76 scale Cromwell tank from Airfix. I got this as a present last year, so it's only taken me a year to get this painted!

It's painted up as one of the 7th Armoured "Desert Rats" Cromwell, from 1944.
